F.A.Q.

What type of charters do you offer?

Inshore, Offshore & Flats fishing.

1. Inshore fishing is done in shallow water and land is always within sight. No need to worry about getting sea sick on these trips. But don’t let the shallow water fool ya. We get fish up to 300lbs in water shallow enough for you to stand up in.

2. Offshore is most likely done in 20 to 100 feet of water here in Crystal River and well past the few of land we fish the crystal river reef.

3. Flats Fishing is done in 3 feet of water or less in the back country mangrove islands from Homosassa to Crystal River.

(352) 436-4787

What species will we target?

Again, it will depend on the time of year, weather conditions and the tides. But, we catch sharks, redfish, trout, cobia, mackerel, jacks, snook, tarpon, grouper, snapper and much more. Call us to find out what’s biting right now!

Can we keep some fish for the dinner table and who cleans them?

Yes, you are more than welcome to keep your legal limit of fish and we’ll be more than happy to clean and bag them for you. Keep in mind that the guide cannot count toward the legal limit of fish.

I live here, can I book you to teach me the area?

Absolutely!

Can I bring a GPS?

Absolutely NOT……

I always hearthat guides don’t want us wearing black soled shoes or boots. Is that the case with you?

You can wear whatever you want. However, keep in mind that black soled shoes leave streaks on the boat that are very hard for us to remove. If you wouldn’t mind helping us out, we’d prefer that you didn’t. Also keep in mind that you’re going to be on a boat and boat live in the water. From time to time the boats have water in them and you won’t want to wear anything you don’t want getting wet. We suggest wearing sandals to avoid ruining any nice shoes you may have.

I’ve heard nightmare stories about guides being angry and yelling at their clients. Are you going to yell at me?

Absolutely not! We’re full time professional guides and we believe in having happy clients. Clients that get yelled at aren’t happy and they don’t come back to fish again with a guide that treats them without respect. The only things you’ll here us yell are things like “REEL! You’ve got a big one!” and “Wooooooooohooooooooooo! Awesome fish!”

What happens if I break something?

Hey, we all have accidents. Don’t sweat it. If something breaks and you didn’t do it intentionally, we’ll just pat you on the back and say don’t worry about it. Keep in mind though that one broken or lost rod/reel setup will cost us the entire price of the charter so it would be appreciated if you would help us fix or replace anything you might break. But, we’re not going to hound you about it.

Can I get drunk on a charter.

Hey, fishing charters are supposed to be fun and many people like to have fun and relax with a few adult beverages and that’s just fine with us. However, if you drink enough that we start worrying about your safety, the trip will be over. Your safety is our first priority.

Can we bring our children?

Absolutely! Most of us have kids and taking kids fishing is one of our favorite things to do!

Do we have to catch bait with you?

Only if you feel like it. We’re more than happy to show up at the dock already loaded with bait if you’d like. Keep in mind, charter where we catch bait prior to picking you up will start later than if you went with us to catch bait.

Do we have to tip you?

Tips are not expected but they are greatly appreciated. We charge exactly what we need to to make a decent living. But, 10-20% is not unusual from out clients who had a great day and appreciated the extra effort we put in for them.

Why are fishing charters so expensive?

Because it’s an expensive business to run. Commercial insurance, annual licenses, boat payment, website costs, advertising costs, new tackle every year, maintenance and repairs and GAS GAS GAS…. you can only imaging the ongoing costs.

What if we have a large group?

We can handle groups from 1-100 angler or more. We have a network of skilled, insured, professional guides that we can call upon to put every member of your group in a boat with a great guide.
