Capt. Kevin “James” Shiver A/K/A (KJ)

Growing up in Crystal River and living right on the water you can bet…… yep I spent all my time fishing. I ran a 16′ net boat and fished the back waters of Crystal River, Salt River and Ozello Key for redfish, trout and mullet,  we sold our fish to browns crab house to make a buck or two just enough money for gas and snacks for the next day.  Then after the net ban in 1986 and thinking my fishing days were over I herd the call and followed my love of music and pursued a carrier in the music business as a DJ, Song Writer and Producer and owner of 808 Records.

My first hit song came in 1996 when I wrote and produced the song Passion and started the band K5,  “K5″ is also the classification for the ‘brightest stars’ in astronomy. I put together 5 members that were friends and musicians and started the first band to play electronic dance music as a live five-pice band.  Kj and K5 singed to Universal/BMG Records USA, Universal Records Germany and Mercury Records UK. Selling over one million records worldwide. K5 and myself traveled the world performing the music I wrote and produced.

And to get a chance at a second childhood dream to become a fishing captain well all I can say is thank you to all my  family, friends and fan’s for making this dream come true fortune favors the prepared mind.

Captain Kevin James is a 4th generation Crystal River Florida Native and full time professional fishing guide specializing in fishing and catching Inshore/offshore species of fish in the Gulf of Mexico. Capt. Kevin James has expert knowledge of the shallow water flats, beautiful mangrove islands around, Crystal River, Homosassa, Yankeetown & Cedar Key Florida area. With his extensive knowledge of the Crystal River area and the local waters, and the movements of our most popular game fish, Capt. Kevin James can put together a fun and exciting Crystal River fishing charter for you.  Growing up in Crystal River and fishing these waters for over 30 years gives me an advantage.
